I have put together a list of my favorite fonts to use with my students when I was in the classroom, and now with my kids as we tackle a more “serious” style of homeschooling!
All fonts are available FOR FREE at www.dafont.com
This font is called Letters for Learners – it comes in 4 different font styles – Regular, Lined, Dotted & Lined Dotted.
Letters for Learners Font Family is a friendly, legible type set designed with young students in mind.
I use it to label the kids notebooks, folders and more as it looks like a nice and neat handwriting.
Each has over 300 characters, including many international letters.
Also, in the plain solid and dotted versions, you can use the ^ symbol for a lined space.
This font is called Learning Curve – it comes in 2 different font styles – Regular & Dotted
I loved using this font when I taught 5th Grade as a good way for my students to practice reading words in cursive; did you know that some kids have a hard time reading cursive letters?!
This font is called KG Primary Dots – it comes in 4 different font styles – 3 different Lined Dotted and 1 Dotted w/ No Line.
This is my FAVORITE font to use for the little ones in primary grades to learn how to write their names and basic sight words.
Perfect for teaching kids to write, these dotted letters are easy to trace. In both lined and unlined versions. Create blank lines by typing with the space bar on the lined version.
This font is called Primary Penmanship – it comes in 5 different styles – 2 lines and 3 non-lined with each letter spacing increasing.
This is another font I use to label the kids notebooks, folders and more as it looks like a nice and neat handwriting.
Also super great for worksheets when you use the non lined version!
This font is called Hand – it comes in 5 different styles – Regular, Spaced, Numbered, With Instructions & Dotted.
This one is great for intermediate grade students to practice reading their cursive.
It is missing a few key characters (like the & as you can see above) including letters with symbols.
This font is called Cole Carreira – it just comes in 1 style.
Super nice and neat cursive handwriting – more modern look.
This font is called School Script Dashed – it comes in 1 style.
This is the best representation of the cursive that’s being taught in schools today.
I wish it came without the lines, but if you print worksheets using a light gray color text, it’s great practice for writing over the letters and words!
This font is called Life Lessons – it comes in 1 style.
This one is great for intermediate grade students to practice reading and writing their cursive.
This is a great representation of the cursive that’s being taught in schools today.
Like the font above, I wish it came without the lines, but if you print worksheets using a light gray color text, it’s great practice for writing over the letters and words!

Whether you are a teacher looking for great fonts to use in the classroom, a parent/guardian who homeschools, or a parent/guardian who is doing virtual school with their kids this year and needed some tips, I hope these font selections were helpful to you!
