What’s in Mommy & Baby’s Hospital Bags?

Third Baby – third time packing for the hospital!
I’d like to say I have a pretty good idea of what baby and I need to bring to make our hospital stay comfortable! Check out my lists below!

BIO OIL | CHAPSTICK | DEODORANT | RAZORS | TOOTHBRUSH | TOOTHPASTE
HAIR BRUSH | WIPES | SOAP | DRY SHAMPOO | TINTED SERUM | MASCARA | HAIR TIES

A lot of those items are pretty self explanatory, but I wanted to focus on a couple of items I bring that you might not think of, or not think it’s necessary!

I absolutely LOVE Bio Oil! I use it all over my body, pregnant or not! It’s the best for dry or itchy skin, or just to moisturize a bit! A chapstick is a must! My lips get so dry during labor, and Burts Bees is my all time fav!

Some people say don’t even bother bringing a razor, but with my son I went into labor unexpectedly, and I was really glad that I had a razor to shave my underarms after a whole day at the hospital haha!

Hair ties are definitely a must have, especially if you have longer hair! You don’t want to have your hair everywhere while you’re pushing and sweating! The coil ones are my favorite because they don’t mark your hair and they’re super comfortable!

Instead of trying to wash my hair at the hospital, I bring dry shampoo if I need a hair refresh!
I don’t want to have to do my hair at the hospital, definitely not bringing a hair dryer or anything! Dry shampoo is so much more convenient and less to pack!

I don’t really wear makeup, but I love my favorite tinted serum and a mascara is always nice! Definitely a waterproof one because there will be tears!

LABOR GOWN | NURSING GOWN | ROBE | NON SLIP SOCKS
SLIPPERS | UNDERWEAR | NURSING BRA

I love bringing my own labor gown to the hospital. I know they provide one, but not only is your own so much cuter, but I feel cleaner having my own, and not one that has had other people’s bodily fluids on it. I know the hospital washes them… But STILL! I just like my own haha!

These Baby Be Mine Nursing Gowns are my alllll time favorite! Even if you don’t plan on breastfeeding, they’re the best! So soft, stretchy and awesome. I wore mine wayyyy beyond my nursing months!

The GoumiKids mama robes are THE BEST! They are so super soft and amazing!
I wear them around the house all the time, and I’ll be wearing them at the hospital too since most of the time you can find me in a nursing bra and undies during my hospital stay haha!
You can use code LAURACO to save 15% off your order on their website!

The hospital “provides” you with non-slip socks meaning you pay for them lol! Might as well buy super cute ones, which are a lot cheaper than what they hospital will bill you for!

If not in socks, I’m in slippers! Love these Smiley Face ones!

IF I wear underwear, you know about that pad life, they have to be comfy! I love these stretchy ones!

And finally, if you plan on breastfeeding, the Bravado Nursing Bras are the best!
They are comfortable and they last through many many washes! I love them!

NURSING BRA | SORE NIPPLE SET | HAKKAA PUMP | MINI BREASTMILK BOTTLES
COOLING NIPPLE PADS| NURSING PADS | LACTATION COOKIES | LACTATION CHIPS

The Bravado Nursing Bras are the best and so good I had to include them twice!

So excited to try the Frida Mom Sore Nipple Set this time around if I need it. It has awesome reviews, and sometimes your nipples need a little help during those early breastfeeding days!

Instead of bringing my big breast pump to the hospital I’m bringing my Hakkaa and then these little breastmilk storage bottles to store whatever I pump out! Some hospitals provide them, but if you’re not sure, definitely pack some!

These soothing cooling pads are sooooo great to have to help with sore nipples! Along with the nursing pads to keep your bra dry if you leak!

I’ve always loved these lactation cookies! And I’m excited to try these chips too!
I always bring some lactation snacks to the hospital!

BELLY SUPPORT BINDER | POSTPARTUM UNDERWEAR | DEPENDS | 10FT CHARGER
PILLOW | BLACK OVERSIZED TOWEL | SNACKS

Something I never thought to bring to the hospital before but always bought when I got home was a belly support binder! After birth your belly and muscles can feel weird, and having some extra support is so nice! So I’m bringing one to the hospital this time around to wear as soon as the nurses stop pushing down on my belly!

Depends are a MUST for me! Those mesh undies the hospital provides are not only super uncomfortable, but they never ever stay in place! The pad moves around, and it’s just not pleasant! The Depends Silhouette have been my go-to for postpartum because they are stretchy and comfy! I’m also trying the Frida Mom Postpartum Undies this time around too to hold my Ice Maxi Pads! I like variety because who knows what the situation will be down there after I give birth lol! I’ll be taking advantage of the hospital provided ones there and saving my Frida ones for home!

10 foot charger is a must too because the outlets at the hospital are in weird places and I want to be able to charge my phone from the hospital bed!

I always bring my own comfy pillow, I buy one just for the hospital so I don’t have to bring my one from home, this $4 one from Target is actually super comfortable and does the work!

I also always pack an oversized black towel because not only are the hospital towels super thin and small, but just like the hospital gown, the thought of rubbing a towel on my clean body that had someone else’s bodily fluids on it before makes me cringe haha!

And snacks! Omg, pack snacks!!!

Other things worth mentioning are a camera – an actual camera, not just your phone camera!
Gum for a quick mouth refresh, your favorite water bottle if you’re particular, and of course a going home outfit! I’ll just wear home whatever shoes I wear to the hospital lol! I usually pack a maternity dress to wear home.
Oh! And a cozy blanket!!! I always bring a cozy blanket for myself too!

Alright! Now for Baby’s Hospital Bag! Since I’m having a girl, you’ll see lots of girly focused things!
If you’re having a boy and looking for more boy specific things, check out what I packed for my son’s bag HERE!

FOOTIE PAJAMAS | ONESIES | HOSPITAL HAT | BOWS | SWADDLE SET
MUSLIN BLANKETS | SWADDLE SACK | BURP CLOTHS | BIBS

Footie Pajamas are all my babies have worn at the hospital, along with onesies! They are usually swaddled most of the time, so I just pack some basics. I do 2 a day in case they get dirty. When I had my first baby I didn’t pack enough pajamas and onesies so my husband had to go home to grab more – I learned my lesson and always bring extra!

Since I’m having a girl, I definitely bring cute hospital hats along with bows! Too cute!

I like to match baby at the hospital so I’m for sure bringing matching gowns, outfits and a swaddle set for us!

Muslin Blankets are my favorite – I love them for swaddling or covering up, and when I’m feeling lazy, the swaddle sacks are my go-to!

Both of my babies were big on spitting up, so I’m definitely packing burp cloths and bibs for Baby 3 too to keep her clean and dry! The Tommee Tippee bibs are my favorite because they go up baby’s neck and keeps the milk from pooling and going in their neck creases!

BOPPY PILLOW | PACIFIER | PACIFIER CLIP | BOOTIES | ANNOUNCEMENT DISC
DIAPER RASH CREAM | PORTABLE SOUND MACHINE | BABY BOOK | CARSEAT COVER

I love having a Boppy Pillow to help prop baby up! From giving your arms a break, to breastfeeding, to letting siblings hold baby safely, I loved having a Boppy Pillow at the hospital.

My hospital never provides pacifiers, so I always bring my own. You can also bring a pacifier clip to keep the pacifiers from getting lost or falling.
I love the Ryan & Rose Pat Pat Pacifiers and their silicone pacifier clips – they’re easy to sterilize and double as teethers. You can use code LAURA136 on their website for a discount!

I usually keep my babies in footie pajamas, but in case they need some extra warmth on their feet, I prefer baby booties over socks! They don’t slip off baby’s feet!

An announcement disc is super cute for hospital pics! And I always bring the baby book to get baby’s foot prints once they’re born! 🙂

I don’t remember if my hospital provides diaper cream, so I always bring my own in case I need it!

A portable sound machine is great because it has no cables, and you can always keep it in your diaper bag too for on-the-go!

Car seat cover is totally optional for when you leave the hospital – I love the Milk Snob ones because they double as a nursing cover too!

I hope this helps you pack yours and baby’s hospital bags!
It might seem like a lot of things to some, but I love being able to be comfortable during my hospital stay, and never feel like I’m missing anything!
I’m kind of an over-packer by nature haha, so definitely pick and choose what you think would work for you!
